Color Cycling

Color Cycling is a feature that allows you to automatically cycle through the colors in a palette as you draw.

Palette

The swatch palette in the sidebar determines the colors available for cycling. Choose this using the dropdown near the top right of the NPS Image Editor window.

Cycling mode

The cycling mode determines how colors in the palette are selected as you draw.

Pick Color

The default mode that disables color cycling

Cycle Once

Selects each color in the palette starting with the first and ending with the last. After the last color is reached, it remains the selected color until you start the next operation.

Cycle Repeatedly

Selects each color in the palette starting with the first and ending with the last. After the last color is reached, cycling restarts at the beginning.

Cycle in Waves

Selects each color in the palette starting with the first and ending with the last. After the last color is reached, cycling resumes in reverse order until it reaches the first color.

Cycle Vertically

Selects each color in the palette starting with the first and ending with the last, but instead of going left to right, it goes top to bottom. Useful for palettes arranged in this direction.

Random

Selects colors from the palette in random order.

Additional Cycling Modes

Some installations include additional cycling modes that may or may not utilize the palette. For example the "Rainbow" cycling mode will cycle a full-spectrum rainbow regardless of the palette.

Manual color cycling

If you configure a scroll wheel modifier in Options, you can use the scroll wheel to manually cycle through the colors by holding the modifier key.
